Disaster is brewing.

In the wake of a horrific assassination attempt, the Andromeda Galaxy is on the brink of an intergalactic conflict that could bring incalculable devastation. Zodiak, a world-worn Andromedan Agent, embarks on what will likely be his last mission before retiring from service - or before he meets his death in a long and bloody war. The mission takes a disastrous turn, but Zodiak barely escapes with his life when he is saved by an unexpected rescuer; a mercenary. An unlikely partnership forms between agent and mercenary, and several other characters, and the unusual alliance soon find themselves faced with a harsh reality: they may be the only ones who can prevent a machination that is far deeper - and far deadlier - than the strife that threatens to wreak havoc on Andromeda.
